Why am I expecting a train wreck tomorrow night?

These contestants haven't shown the ability to sing anything beyond their 'A-B-C's', and they're going to sing Queen songs?

Puh-leeze.

First, it's a bad choice by the producers. Freddie Mercury was a one-of-a-kind performer with a one-of-a-kind voice. That fact sets most of the contestants up for failure before they start.

Second, I'm not really interested in hearing the country version of 'Killer Queen' from Bucky or 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' from Kellie.

My advance prediction is that Paris and Taylor will have the toughest time, given their singing styles.

Ace and Chris have the best shot at pulling off an acceptable performance.

Paris might do ok if she picks somebody to love (a gospel like tune) or another one bites the dust

taylor should pick an obscure track by the band called sleeping on the sidewalk which is a blues number... if he has to pick a single it should be tie your mother down which has a blues swagger

Not with your premise, but I have doubts about any of them doing well. Also, I've got a strange feeling Paris might surprize us, though I have no idea how.

Disagree. While a couple of them might present an average cover, I don't think any of them will have a memorable night. Provided the actual band isn't going to be backing them up, I think the best shot they have is to perform a cover of a cover, like Chris did with Walk the Line.

Bucky could cover Dwight Yoakam's 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love'. Chris could do Nine Inch Nails' version of 'Get Down Make Love'. Katharine could do Sarah Brightman's version of 'Who Wants To Live Forever', or maybe Ronstadt's 'We Will Rock You'.

I just think it's a death knell for the current crop of people on AI to try to cover Freddy Mercury's version of anything. I really think tomorrow night is going to one big fat flub. They really need to just scrap the who theme idea and let these people sing what's selling these days. That is what the producers are interested in (can they sell today), isn't it?

The best thing the contestants can do, is forget about Freddies performances of these songs. Even Queen themselves were smart enough to not try and hire a 'sound-a-like' to tour with. They hired Paul Rodgers. A completely different type of singer than Freddie. A good singer, just different. The AIs, should do the same. Find a song and make it your own.
