As for who will benefit from Ace's departure, I would say that the one that should benefit the most should be Chris.

Ya think? But Daughtry and Ace's styles were so different - unless Ace's fans vote solely on looks, and 'male' looks at that, I can't see a whole bunch of them making the leap to Chris. If they liked'em pretty and 'light', they voted Ace - if they go for pretty and 'heavy', they'd have already been in Chris' camp, no?

Well, some might just like em pretty and not care about the rest. The reason Ace started off so strong and then fizzled out, in my opinion, was that many of the teen and young female voters jumped out of the Ace camp and migrated to Chris. I think that some might still have been splitting the vote between the two. That, of course, stops with Ace's elimination. I think that any of the ones that stuck by Ace, despite the Chris surge will finally move over to that camp as well.

Good point - based on his audition I initially thought Young had it in the bag, but after persistent mousy performances and that nails-onna-chalkboard falsetto, I had to, HAD to I say, change my mind.

It'll be interesting to see how well Chris does - not only with Ace's departure, but seeing Daughtry in the bottom two; that alone shuold rile the fanbase.

Trying to define a demographic for Ace outside his look is difficult, as there was so little there musically or vocally to recommend him. He seems like a genuinely nice guy, which shouldn't hurt, but could some Ace fan's tell us what exactly was his appeal?

I think his fans will split between not voting and spreading out fairly evenly for the other contestants. I don't see a clear magnet for his support.
