Song choices for this week....opinions??

I cant wait for this week - I love Andrea Bocelli. The classic love songs I would choose for the Idols are:

Taylor - 'When a Man loves a Woman' Percy Sledge - I would love to see whay Taylor does with this, personally i think it would be perfect for his voice and I would love to hear it!

Chris - 'Your song' Elton John - Chris needs to do something special and I think singing this fantastic love song would give him the perfect opportunity. I think he would do a great job with this. I would love him also to do 'Wicked Game' but they'd never let him do it on AI

Katherine - 'Nothing compares to you' ...I think Katherine's song choices are so boring and i think this classic sultry tune would be perfect for her.

Elliot - 'Lets stay together' Al Green... I love this song - I dont know how well Elliot could do it but if he did it well it would be really beautiful.

Paris - 'The first time I saw your face' Aoran Neville - I think shE would do a great version of this beautiful song...

Kellie - 'I will always love you' - Dolly Parton...I cant really think of anything else for her!

I agree; of course, Gedeon did a terrific version earlier in the season. I guess Gedeon wasn't terribly believable in his delivery, though.

Hate the idea of 'Your Song', LOVE the idea of 'Wicked Game'. Why don't you think they'd let him do it?

I don't think there's any way she could pull this off. You really, REALLY need an edge to do it right.

What a great idea; I also loved Tina Turner's version. If Elliott does this one and does it right, it might be the defining moment for him.

Wow, I don't think there's any way she's subtle enough for this song. It is a beautiful song, but a lot of it is interpretation and I think we've already seen that while she is undoubtedly a good singer, she's not mature enough for some of these bigger songs.

Ugh, but I agree. I would love/hate to hear her warble her way through that one.

If he can hit and hold the high notes, then I think this is a great choice. I'm just not sure it's quite in his range.

I'm a big EJ fan, but I hate Your Song. Boring and overplayed. But if Chris can rearrange it like he did with I Walk The Line, maybe...?

I agree Katharine's choices are really safe, and this would be a bit of a risk. Especially because it might not show off her vocals enough. If it's arranged the way Sinead O'Connor did it, the vocal is way out front too, so you better not hit any bad notes

If Elliot had a falsetto, he could do a great job on this one.

Is this the Roberta Flack song The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face? Then I'd say it might be too mature for Paris. RF's version is so heartfelt.

I'd say less is more on this one. If she doesn't try to belt it out like Whitney, but sings it delicately like Dolly, it could make for a perfect

I dont know its just not very American Idolish and i think it's quite instumental in parts which they dont' seem to like but I would just love to hear him sing it - it would be magic

I agree but i just dont get Katherine and her popularity - she does safe boring songs every week and i would just like to see her do something magical and memorable. Another one which would make or break would be 'Close to you' by the Carpenters

I thought she waas great last week and she takes risks and pushes herself unlike some of the others. Another one for her could be 'Stop' by Sam Brown again it is quite mature but i would like to see what she could do with it.

Ooooh just thought of another fab one for Taylor - 'Aint no sunshine' by Bill Withers - that would be just amazing!!!

That would be a nightmare. This song isn't meant to be sung with a big dopey game show hostess smile plastered on your face.

A lot of artists won't let their songs be used on AI because they don't want them butchered in the early rounds (the bad contestant auditions).

This is why Rock Star has been able to get rights to so many classic rock stuff that AI can't come near

How about 'Me And Mrs. Jones' by Billy Paul? I think Taylor would do a great version of that one.

I was thinking 'At This Moment' by Billy Vera would be a good choice.

I dont think thats totally true most artists want nothing to do with 'rockstar' they had a lot of 'passes' (including Van Halen) before this new Super Nova unknown group took the show for this season.
