A co-worker of mine (who is originally from India) was telling me that she's been watching Indian Idol. She said they are down to the final 6 and it's 5 guys and 1 girl. The age range is similar to AI, roughly 18 - 28. They have 3 judges, 2 men and 1 woman. The difference is that all the judges are nice! No one tells it like it is. Of course, that isn't too surprising if you have ever known or worked with any number of people from India (very nice and polite folks mostly). She sees the show on Dish Network. She said Indian Idol is mostly focused on the performance as a whole, and not just the singing. She also was telling me of another show running also currently on a different channel and this other show is focused only on the singing. Each contestant has a vocal coach. She said there are several contestants who are appearing on BOTH shows! I asked her to tape an episode for me so I can see it first hand. Anyhow, I thought it sounded interesting.

It's interesting to see other country's perspective when it comes to Idol. I remember when World Idol had it's finale night and we saw the 'American' Idol, 'Australian' Idol, 'Great Britain' Idol, etc. A couple of the European 'Idols' were so bad that if they auditioned in the US, they'd make the show all right, but it would've been the atrocious auditions show. It made me wonder, are all the singers *that* bad from that country, or were they judging it on something other than singing? For example, if Fantasia was on World Idol, would all the other countries think that we are tone deaf nut cases?

With the competition that was in World Idol (Kelly excluded) I would hope that she would win. Hmm....I wonder why they haven't had a World Idol 2. Maybe because the Idol winners of all the countries aren't worth watching.

All the 'idol' shows are from that same Simon guy (not Cowel, the other one lol). Our Idol (Canada) is still in it's audition stages. We have four judges and one of them for sure is our 'Simon' - his name is Zack Werner. He even has the horrible fashion sense! Anyways this is our 'Idol' website.
