If things work out as usual on AI, tonight will be a most interesting night.

It sounds like TrainWreck3 is about to happen. If so, the bottom 3 will tell a lot about the staying power of the top half of the bracket, relative to the third weak performance of just about everyone in the group.

Course, if they hit it out of the park, that's another story.

Okay, I checked the FAQ and there's nothing there about 'train wreck.' Yet I get the feeling that when people talk about TPTB declaring a 'train wreck' they mean it in something other than the usual sense, something specific to AI. Can anyone fill me in? Tks!

Pretty simple. A train wreck is a week when no one deserves to survive: (nearly) everybody stinks up the place. TPTB don't so much declare a train wreck as put one in motion by accident or on purpose through picking an impossible (or improbable) theme, like Queen. (I can hear Richard Kiley in the background singing 'To theme, the impossible theme.'

So far this season, the train wrecks have probably all been accidents. If tonight though, meets a lot of folks' expectations and is a complete cock up, some of us suspect it will have been by design.

A somewhat unrelated thought, how about Chris trying 'Crazy Little Thing?' Does anyone know if any alt. rock band has done a brooding cover of this song, yet?

If tonight, for whatever reason, is a train wreck, it will be the third week in a row. I can't remember it happening two weeks in a row, much less a third during any of the AI seasons.

I agree with your sentiments that it's not the talent that might cause it tonight as it is TPTB selecting Queen's music for them to perform. IMHO, they should be scratching their heads and asking themselves,
