Size 7 is slender. Size 5 is slim. Size 3 is skinny. Size 10 or 12 is thin. Size 14 is the average. Size 16 is not thin but not fat. Size 18 is plump. Size 20 is fat.
American Idol should have a figure to idolize. However, Ruben Studdard beat the odds.

Size 7 is three sizes up from Size 1. Both are junior sizes, as in 1-3-5-7-9-11, etc. (As opposed to Misses sizes 2-4-6-8-10-12-14)
BOTH Sizes 1 and 7 are slender. Size 1 is 'extra small', Size 7 is small or a small-medium. It also depends on height. Someone who's 5'10' and wears a 7 is more slender than someone who's 5'2' and wears a 7..

My cousin, just an inch shorter than me (less than five feet), used to wear a 0 to my 7. She wasn't really much skinnier than I was, but she was really tiny. She had the littlest hands and wrists, tiny feet, etc. Maybe 0 refers to overall small size rather than just chest-waist-hips measurements?
